DIGITAL IMAGING TECHNOLOGY ALLOWS FOR EARLIER DETECTION OF CERTAIN EYE DISEASE

Eye Disease screening Montreal

Our optometrists take advantage of cutting edge technology with a Non-Mydriatic Fundus Camera and an Automated Visual Field Perimeter available at the ROCKLAND EYE CLINIC.

Digital imaging allows for early detection and follow-up of certain eye diseases such as glaucoma, macular degeneration and pre-cancerous lesions. Digital imaging is important for many patients. Particularly those who have or with a family history for the following:

• Glaucoma • Diabetes • High blood pressure

"How often should I get my eyes checked?"

The Quebec association of optometrists recommends a complete eye examination once a year. Regular eye check-ups are the best prevention for some of the more severe vision loss associated with serious eye disease. Many serious eye diseases often offer little or no symptoms initially and therefore may go unnoticed for years. Remember, earlier diagnosis may lead to a better prognosis (outcome).

"I can see without glasses, so my eyes are fine, do I still need to see an eye doctor?"

YES!

Many patients think that if they can see well without glasses they don't need to see an eye doctor, but an eye exam is more than just vision correction, it's a check-up for your eye health!

"Why are Dilated Fundus Exams so important?"

When you visit your eye doctor for a routine visit, he or she may suggest a dilated fundus examination. Regular dilated fundus examinations are particularly important for patients over the age of 40, patients who are highly nearsighted, or patients with problems such as cataracts.
