New contact lens designs offer better far and near vision for presbyopes Many people think they cannot wear contact lenses because they are over 40 and have presbyopia. Fortunately, there have been recent advances in the contact lens designs for presbyopia. Today a number of multifocal contact lens options are available. Patients report better far and near vision with the new contact lens designs compared with older designs or single vision contacts. One reason why some patients may have difficulty with these lenses is because of the one size fits all approach to fitting contact lenses. Each individual patient has different needs and therefore needs an individual adjustment. Dr Issa assesses each patient´s individual visual demands to optimize both the far and near vision.
